Understatement-Jo

So I realised my last update was in January- when my first round of exams had just finished, well then the rest of the exam period started. I have finished my photography exams finally and go to put up my work very VERY soon for the A level exhibition which should be a good laugh and I have psychology and Drama and Theatre studies to do for written exams now. Which of course means that my social/photography life has died down rather a lot.

As it's coming to an end however I have found I've finally gathered inspiration to do some new photography and try some new things- recently started charging for my work and have been getting paid for doing band shoots in their studios or live. Which is a challanging but fun experience- as well as getting into the gigs for free as I'm official photographer means that it's all gravy for me as I get to listen to the latest upcoming bands. That is in Suffolk anyway- thugh saying that one of the bands has made it to the O2 arena through live and unsigned so I'm very privaledged to have done some of their live stuff already.

If anyone is interested here are three of the bands I will be photographing, Welcome to Purgatory are the ones playing at the O2.

Have a gander at them, they should all have recordings of their stuff methinks.

But other than band stuff I have been explorting other things, for example I have for once been trying out landscape, or rather building-scapes from where I am. Not some of my most favourite of things but hey, I get to have my try at star trails at the very least. Which for first gos really did come out really well. For me anyway.

Anyways. I'm offski, hopefully some new photos will be up soon!

So, for the last month or so I haven't been updating! This is maybe because of me actually being busy for once in my life. My exam period came and snuck up of me pretty quickly, so I've been in revising for that and preparing the end of my photography coursework for that. Thankfully, am on the last run and doing the final outcomes for my coursework. I'm photographing people in beds in their natual poses, which should be good fun, if a little difficult.

Next order of news! I got my second university offer! Nottingham Trent, an amazing uni in my eyes and I was so happy that I got that place offered I actually yelled out loud. Scared my drama teacher a fair bit.

Which leads me onto the other news, that I got given the assignment of shooting my school's musical "Oliver!" the photos will be online soon, I'm pretty proud of a fair few of them, so only the best will go up.But they will of course go up!

Got my exam title for photography too, though, I can't remember the complete proper title now... I know it's something and discovery... I might take it on a complete different journey and into discovery of your own imagination, so some high manipulation and dream world making! Or discovery of identity (like coming out of the closet ect) So should be rather fun!

I recently upgraded my camera finally, gone over to a Canon. But a Canon D60, waiting for the battery to charge but tried it in the shop and I love it so so so much. A 70-300mm Tameron lens with it too! Epic!

I've just updated to a 12 month subscription for premium deviantart.
I can't believe I didn't get it sooner!

I've had my first University interview, Coventry University, the most prompt and friendly university so far. Took in my portfolio; a lot of portrait- candid, studio, "The last Supper", some landscape, photo emulsion (which still needs to be documented here sorry!) and quite a few of animals.

The interviewer seemed to like me, he laughed and smiled a lot and did a lot of nodding and writing down. It's a good thing right? It would be so awesome to get offered a place there, they only offer 30 places a year! So wish me luck!

It's my first publication in an article, I'm the bottom photograph of the two old couple using viewfinder photography, since I have expanded on this project with a few more photographs, it's a fun project I must admit it. Once it's a finished product I will post it up onto deviantart, so watch this space.

Right now, I'm working on my project for A levels of "Staging the spontaneous", my dissertation is coming along well, just need to finish the practical work now. I want to take photos through windows of people in bed either by themselves or with other people, I may have to invest in the old UV filter.
